Getting Back Outside: Soft Ways to Rejoin the World This Spring

Sometimes winter changes more than the weather.

It can shift our energy, our motivation, and our connection to the world around us.

We may spend more time alone, cancel more plans, and slowly get used to staying in.

Then spring arrives, and part of us wants to get back out there—but another part doesn’t know where to begin.

If that feels familiar, start softly.

You do not need to jump into a packed social calendar or become instantly outgoing.

As you may know, I had a near death experience in 2023 and am just starting to go out regularly again.

I'm giving this advice on rejoining society because it's something I just experienced and am pushing Myself through.

It's easy to get caught in your wintertime routines and habit.

It's easy to get comfortable wearing pjs all day.

Making that leap from winter solitude to spring socializing isn't something we have to jump into fast.

In fact, I'm enjoying slowly allowing Myself to become acclimated to people and places again.

I've been walking more, going outside more, even if just to sit and get fresh air.

Rejoining the world can happen in small, steady ways. for you as well

Try this season:

  • Visit a local park and sit in the sun

  • Take yourself to brunch or coffee

  • Walk through a farmers market

  • Explore a neighborhood you’ve never wandered

  • Attend one small event that interests you

  • Invite one friend out for a casual meetup

  • Spend time outside without needing a plan

Being out in the world again does not have to be performative.

It can simply be about remembering that life exists beyond your walls and that joy is still available to you.

Fresh air can help.

New scenery can help.

Human connection can help.

Movement can help.

Most of all, giving yourself permission to return at your own pace can help.

This spring does not require you to be who you were before.

You can meet the season as you are now.

And that version of you is enough.

If you’re ready for a fresh start and support along the way, I’d be honored to connect.
